St Peters Church Monkwearmouth - Bede (680)




The church was part of a monastery which was built in 674, and soon afterwards the Venerable Bede began his monastic life in 680 at the age of 7. He probably transferred to the monastery in Jarrow two years later when it opened.

John Wesley preached here 7 times.
