William Williams' Grave (1791)

‘DEATH OF THE REV. JOHN WILLIAMS,

Pant-y-celyn.

... the REVEREND JOHN WILLIAMS, of Pant-y-celyn, near Llandovery, [died] in the 74th year of his age; minister among the Calvinistic Methodists, (son of the late Poet, WM. WILLIAMS, who, in all likelihood, will be remembered while the Gospel and the Welsh language continues in the nation) who departed this world on the 5th of June last leaving behind many to mourn for the loss they have received.

... He was buried in Llanfair-ar-y-bryn Churchyard, Llandovery, near his father and mother. On the day of his burial Mr Joshua Phillips preached in Welsh, and Mr William Griffiths in English, to a very large and numerous crowd.’
