Westray Baptist Church- Orkneys (1866)

In Orkney, 'a deep undercurrent of religious feeling' ran through Westray during the summer-autumn of 1866. The evangelist Rice T Hopkins spoke there at the end of the year, 'The third night I spoke in the Baptist Chapel. Several were weeping aloud and from that time large numbers remained behind to all the after-meetings. The second week, so many stayed I scarcely new where to begin; men and women in every part of the place bowed beneath the power of the Word." As many as 60 were added to the Baptist Church.
