Old Shildon - Salvation Army (1880)

Yesterday was a day never to be forgotten. All the glory that God revealed to us was and is indescribable. It was joy unspeakable and full of glory. Our friends the Independents held the camp meeting and just said we would band ourselves together for the day and we did so. Hallelujah! The Lord gave us a powerful day. At night we held a united love feast in our chapel; it was not only a lovefest by name but a feast of love in reality. Brother Holmes, (Independent) then took the lead of the meeting; all the way along it was Jesus. We got into the prayer meeting, still the Lord was sending the power upon us and with such power that some laughed, jumped and shouted; while others wept; when the invitation was given to those that wanted salvation, to come forward, first one and then another came until 16 precious souls fell down and cried for mercy, that makes 21 this week; Lord carry on till the judgement day.

Captain Allen.
